How Does Smoking Affect Unborn Babies?
Smoking during pregnancy can harm your baby.
- Your baby may be too small
- Premature
- Have breathing problems including chest infections and asthma. These last a lifetime.
Smoking can also:
- Increase the risk of cot death
- Increase the chance of stillbirth
Smoking during pregnancy can mean poor health for the mother too, including:
- Miscarrige
- Bleeding
- Nausea
If you stop smoking during pregnancy you will benefit from:
- Fewer complications
- Less morning sickness
- Have a more content baby after birth
What can you do for your unborn baby?
- Stop smoking! It is never too late to stop
- Do not let other people smoke near you or your baby
